Information about the IWA

IWA Penang - An International Women's Association

"Learning about different cultures, sharing individual talents, and supporting
each other through the daily encounters of life in a foreign country
".

The IWA Penang is an international women's association which was formed in 1981. The membership consists of about 300 women from more than 30 countries around the world.

In February of 2003 the AWA Penang changed its name to IWA Penang, International Women's Association. The new name has been chosen to better reflect the diversity of its International membership.

Support Network for Expatriates

The primary purpose of the IWA Penang is to provide a support network for expatriates living in Penang, Malaysia. We do this by offering various social, cultural and sporting activities for our members. Many events are also designed to include members' spouses and children. In addition, the organisation is heavily involved in the community services projects within Penang, especially those associated with women and children. We support these charities with our fundraising efforts as well as a strong volunteer program.

• New Member Coffee Mornings are held monthly to give our new members the
opportunity to meet each other, as well as members of the IWA Penang Board.
